Support KidSport with Evan Dunfee on Nov. 5th!
Evan, a Richmond native, can be found routinely walking up to 200km a week on the streets of his hometown. Having represented our country over 2 dozen times in the last decade as one of Canada’s top race walkers his big breakthrough came at the Rio Olympics. After a 10th place finish in the shorter 20km distance, Evan brought his niche event to water coolers across the country after his stunning 4th place finish in the longer 50km event. Another career highlight for Evan was winning the Pan-Am games on home turf in Toronto in 2015 in front of his family and friends.
A graduate of the Kinesiology program at UBC, Evan’s largest interest outside of sport is looking at ways to improve physical activity levels in children. As a Kidsport ambassador Evan believes that every child should have the same opportunities to participate that he did. Acknowledging how sport has allowed him to transform from a shy, awkward kid with no focus to a confident, goal oriented adult Evan has shared his journey with thousands of school children in the hopes of inspiring them.
Gilmore's goal is to raise $400 to help support KidSport. Evan will be coming to Gilmore on November 5th @1:15pm to talk to our students and raise awareness. Please see attached info for more details.
