Supporting the Children of Essential Service Workers

Under the direction of the Provincial Health Officer and the Ministry of Education, the Richmond School District is providing on-site support for Grades K-7 children of essential service workers. The district is providing this government mandated service from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Gilmore, Brighouse and McNeely Elementary.  This service may be expanded to other school sites.

As a result, children and adults will be congregating on the property of these three schools. The protocols being put in place at all of these schools are fully compliant with the orders of the Provincial Health Officer and WorkSafe BC requirements. The Vancouver Coastal Health Medical Health Officer responsible for Richmond, Dr. Meena Dawar, has given full approval of our operating protocols.

Please be advised that it is not necessary to report gatherings at these three school sites to the City of Richmond.
