Parent Advisory Council

Welcome to the Parent Advisory Council For Our School

All parents/guardians of students at Gilmore automatically belong to and are voting members of the James Gilmore Parent Advisory Council (PAC). The PAC is dedicated to the education and well-being of the children and to helping the school provide the best education possible for its students as it works towards common goals. Parents are encouraged to participate in meaningful educational activities and decision-making to strengthen the role of families in education.

The role of the PAC includes:

  • supporting educational opportunities for students
  • promoting co-operation between home and school
  • communication between parents and the school
  • providing a forum for dialogue between parents and the school
  • assisting parents to access the system
  • advising the administrative team on ongoing issues/problems
  • advising the administrative team/staff of parental views about school programs, policies and activities
  • organizing parent activities and events (educational, special events, fund raising, etc.)

Parents meetings are held once a month and the principal Mr. David and vice-principal Mrs. Hazon attend. This is a time for all parents to hear the latest on happenings at Gilmore, to discuss parents' ideas and ask questions. There are parent representatives on the working committee (PAC executive). Through meetings, the parent bulletin board, newsletters and meeting minutes there is an active effort to keep all parents informed and involved in school activities. Parents also have representation in the Richmond District Parents' Association providing a link with other schools in Richmond and B.C.  For more info, please email Gilmore PAC at gilmorepac@outlook.com
