PAC Meeting Minutes September 25, 2019

Minutes taken by: Amber Karnowski Called to order at 6:37 pm Agenda approved by Roseanne and Eva Minutes of AGM 2019 approved by Larissa and Tara Topic: Admin Report: ●  Welcome Brooke Douglas new Principal at James Gilmore and Naomi Hazon Vice Principal. ●  Many new teaching and staffing positions have been filled. Mrs. Douglas is happy to report that many have been filled and everyone is eager to start their new routines. For complete staff information please visit ​https://gilmore.sd38.bc.ca/about-us/our-staff ●  Mrs. Douglas has applied for four grants for Gilmore including leadership (for Agents of Change), learning (outdoor space), communicating (self reporting) and student learning (social/emotional learning). ●  Work is ongoing on our School Story with an emphasis on community and lifelong learning. The mural will be updated throughout the year and website updated. ●  Breakfast club to be run with the help of Mr. Di Nota’s Agents of Change. ●  FSA testing for grade 4 and 7 Students happens between now and early November. ●  Outdoor Ed Camp Jubilee to happen this October. ●  Orange Shirt Day Assembly and Activities planned for Sept 30. Assembly 9:15am. ●  Volleyball season is underway. Chair Report: ●  Jasmin introduces PAC and the PAC role within the school (fundraising, hot lunch etc). ●  PAC corner on Gilmore website and facebook page to be updated ongoing. This is to be included in the next week at a glance (WAAG) email. Please contact gilmorepac@outlook.com​ for questions or to contribute information. ●  Breakfast club - starting this Friday. Save on Foods has approved donations. Mr. Di Nota’s agents of change will be helping to run the program. ●  Ski Trip - hopeful for the program to return this year. ●  Upcoming PAC Meeting Dates (in Library) General Sept 26 6:30pm, Executive Oct 23 5:45pm, General Oct 23 6:30pm, Executive Nov 21 8:30am, General Nov 21 9am. ●  RDPA - Eva to report back any information. Fundraising: ●  Two major fundraisers to be planned for this year. PAC has decided on a form of Silent Auction/Raffle with dates to come. Request may go out for donations in a newsletter soon. ●  PAC funded Spring Activity in talks. Right now Bollywood dancing is up for consideration. ●  PAC will be starting parent volunteer sign up forms. ●  Kim filled us in on upcoming Movie Night to be held in the gym. Friday October 18. Movie will be Toy Story 4. One more movie night will be hosted in April (date to come). ●  Popcorn Days. Kernels will be sold Nov 4, Dec 2, Feb 3, March 2, April 6, May 4 and June 6. ●  Any new fundraising ideas welcome. Food Days: ● Tara reported a few early communication hiccups however ordering has now started through Munch a Lunch. Looking for assistance with the program/extra helpers to keep the program running smoothly. Please let us know if you have issues ordering. Ordering windows are Sept-January and February-June. Old Business: none New business: none Co-Chairs Report: We would like to welcome our new Principal Mrs. Brooke Douglas and returning Vice Principal Naomi Hazon to the start of a new school year at James Gilmore Elementary.
