PAC Meeting Minutes October 23, 2019

Minutes taken by: Amber Karnowski Called to order at 5:37pm Agenda approved by Eva and Heidi September 25, 2019 Minutes approved by Larissa and Colleen Topic: Admin Report: ●  Principal Brooke Douglas not in attendance. Vice Principal Colleen Orzen present. ●  Outdoor Ed was wet and fun. We will continue with Camp Jubilee. For the next school year the plan is to have it in April 2021 potentially only for two nights. ●  Parent evening for student reporting policy pilot took place recently. 9 divisions are taking part in the program. Evening went well, please reach out for questions if you have any. ●  Movie night was awesome very successful. Good turnout. ●  Photo day happened this week. Potential for different photo vendor next year with year books as an option for grade 7 students in future. ●  Grade 4 and grade 7 students taking part in FSA’s - ongoing. ●  Kindergarten registration November 1st. Information on our website. https://gilmore.sd38.bc.ca/ ●  Remembrance Day Assembly will be November 8 at 9:15am. ●  Quebec trip. 47 combined students from various schools going. Proposal has been submitted to the district. Once approved paperwork will be sent to parents. ●  Spirit wear clothing this year. School will be selling gilmore griffins merchandise. Debating on sweaters with or without zippers. Pricing will be checked and a decision made. ●  Hiring need noon hour supervisors. Reach out to admin if you are interested in being a noon hour at Gilmore. Chair Report: ●  Still deciding on Spring school activity and researching. ●  Email sent out with regards to fundraising. Looking for donations for Silent Auction. More details to come. Treasurer's Report: ● Gaming grant funds of $5000 received. Fundraising: ●  Movie night was a success. $780 raised. Another to come in april TBA. ●  PAC is still deciding on raffle or silent auction.. Online or offline to be decided. More information to come. RDPA: ● Not much information to share. RTA presented Teachers finalizing contracts. Subjects to come include vaping. Movie night licenses expiring November. We will reapply to continue hosting. Food Days: ●  First popcorn day will be November 4 at recess. Volunteers to contact Kim. ●  Sushi day went well. Pizza days have been more popular. Will pair back to back next time? Old Business: ●  Correcting September 25, 2019 General Minutes Naomi Hazen was recorded as Vice Principal. Colleen Orzen is the Vice Principal at James Gilmore Elementary. ●  Cinda spoke to Brooke about website. Waiting on updates as well as adding a PAC corner on the website. Work orders with SD38 are in process. New Business: ●  Parent drop off parking in a no parking zone near end of the pathway off of Dalemore. Bylaw officers will be contacted. Information included in the WAAG or website. ●  Monthly Calendar requested in addition to the WAAG. ●  TV at the front of the school will be operational soon.
